CBC British Columbia and UBC Okanagan will present a Kelowna mayoral debate October 15th. Chris Walker, host of Daybreak South on CBC Radio One, will moderate the debate at the University Theatre, 3333 University Way, at the UBCO campus. Admission is free, but you have to reserve tickets at the link below.

Doors open at 1:30pm for the one hour debate beginning at 2pm. Unclaimed tickets will be released to the public on a first-come, first-served basis at 1:45pm.

Incumbent Colin Basran is seeking re-election. Basran, a former broadcaster, was first elected to Kelowna city council in 2011. He served as a councillor for one term before he was elected mayor in 2014.

Bob Schewe is a former City of Kelowna bylaw officer. His name will be on the ballot for the mayoral seat.

Tom Dyas joined the race at the last minute. He is the former President of the Kelowna’s Chamber of Commerce, and is currently the president of the local insurance company, TD Benefits.

Bobby Kennedy of the downtown Kelowna skate shop BKRY announced his intentions to run for mayor back in early July.
