The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society presents La Force this coming Monday as part of their SPOTLIGHT On Stage Concert Series. Seated cabaret style on stage, this concert series allows for the audience to relax and enjoy an up-close and personal show in this intimate venue.

La Force is Ariel Engle, vocalist and newest member of Broken Social Scene. Before being snapped up by the band, she fronted the group AroarA along with husband Andrew Whiteman (a BSS founding member), and was nominated for the Polaris Prize for their release In the Pines. Along with friends Feist and Snowblink, she also created the all too brief vocal powerhouse Hydra, which played only a handful of shows in the summer of 2014.

She joined Broken Social Scene to become part of the writing and performing core on their latest album Hug of Thunder, lending her commanding vocals to songs like the oblique anthem “Stay Happy”. La Force‚Äôs debut record was released on Arts & Crafts last September, with production from Charles Spearin of Do Make Say Think, Warren Spicer from Plants & Animals, and Nyles Spencer (The Tragically Hip, Gord Downie). The record also features playing from members of Broken Social Scene, Apostle of Hustle, Suuns, and The Barr Brothers.

Tickets are $30.00.
