Toronto-bred, Los-Angeles-based quartet MAGIC! take over the Island Stage June 21st.

Last year concert promotor Rock District revived the Island Stage in Waterfront Park with one of best concerts of the year in the Okanagan featuring acts Bahamas and Yukon Blonde. This morning they announced their first show of 2019 with MAGIC! taking the stage to kick off the very first day of summer. MAGIC! is a Toronto-bred, Los-Angeles-based quartet who scored the song of the summer, "Rude" – a buoyant reggae-pop tune that held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks, charted in 41 countries, sold more than ten million singles and boasts over one billion views on VEVO.

MAGIC! is back with the smash hits ‘Kiss Me’ and ‘Expectations’ from their latest album Expectations. Over the past four years MAGIC! has established itself as a bonafide sensation thanks to its catchy sound and songwriting. What you may not know is that lead singer, Nasri Atweh has written songs for loads of other artists too. As one half of a songwriting/ production duo The Messengers, he’s penned songs for Justin Bieber (including "Up," "That Should Be Me," "Mistletoe," "All Around the World," "As Long As You Love Me," and "Never Say Never."), Shakira, Iggy Azalea, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera and Pitbull.

This should be a great way to open up the summer season with a night of reggae-pop hits at the amphitheatre. We only hope that the weather behaves this year. Last year's big electrical storm during the Bahamas concert caused several interruptions, a storm that incidentally kicked off the 2018 fire season in the Okanagan.

Doors open for the June 21st concert at 6pm, with the opening act (yet to be announced) taking the stage at 7pm, and MAGIC! taking over at 8:30pm. Advanced tickets are $49.50 and went on sale today, February 22nd at 10am. Door tickets are $65 if they are available. Like last year, several vendors will be on site serving food, beer and wine.
