Born and raised in Lethbridge, AB, Ty Vanden Dool has been recording and performing his personal style of synthpop since his studies in the University of Lethbridge’s Digital Audio Arts program, blending elements of past new wave favourites like Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears with those of recent electronic bands like CHVRCHES and M83.
Besides an appearance at Reign Bough Fiddle near Smoky Lake, AB, Vanden Dool has played numerous local shows, sharing the stage with artists like Fox Who Slept the Day Away, Hello Moth, Kane Incognito, King of Foxes and Too Soon Monsoon.
After amassing a large collection of original recordings (one collection of which has made electronic chart appearances on community radio stations in Edmonton, Kamloops and Victoria), Vanden Dool has collected some of his best work into a self-titled debut album. Rife with personal themes of loneliness, unrequited love and unfulfilled desires, it’s sure to be one of the most upbeat downers of 2019. This is his album release tour.
Doors open at 7pm. $10 cover with the Sonic Lizards opening.
