Late last spring, The Landmark Centre announced plans to open the new District Market on the north east corner of the business area (the former Turner VW building) , a mixed-use dining and farm-fresh food hub market that will house six retail tenants (a huge upgrade for the office park scene). Initially slated to open late last summer but now pushed back to this spring, the leases to the various spaces are nearly all signed, and we have finally received word on who one of the tenants are. Industry vets and original co-creators of award-winning vegetarian restaurant ‘The Acorn’ in Vancouver, Brian and Christina Skinner are opening a new 60 seater restaurant called Frankie We Salute You!

The District will be a mixed-use dining and farm-fresh food hub market that will house six retail tenants.

A hat tip to their family’s OG plant practitioners, their grandfathers, ‘The Franks’ dedicated their lives to growing plants that enriched their communities. Brian and Christina have been working closely with local producers to create a menu that celebrates the Okanagan, exploring a more relaxed menu style for this project than the Acorn, inspired by the healthy and fun food they make at home for friends and family. The focus will be very much on creating a great plant-based menu with an equal emphasis on Okanagan wines and craft beer and cider.

The duo have more than 30 years of fine dining experience between them, including stints at Cioppino’s in Vancouver and Michelin Star restaurants like Noma and Sketch internationally. They ended up selling their share to Vancouver’s Main Street vegetarian restaurant, The Acorn in 2014, a year after Brain Skinner took home his Gold Medal Plates victory in 2013.

The bright, open warehouse/industrial-looking 2,000 square foot restaurant (locals M+M Architecture are the firm behind the design) will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
